Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the early 1990s. The genre is characterized by its intricate and complex soundscapes, which often incorporate unconventional rhythms, intricate melodies, and experimental sound design. IDM music often features elements of ambient music, glitch, and minimalism, and is known for its emphasis on experimentation and innovation.

The genre is associated with a number of pioneering artists, including Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, and Squarepusher, among others.
