The Tango Music (from lat. Tango = to touch) is a partner dance from the area of the Río de la Plata, the border river between Argentina and Uruguay. The dance developed at the end of the 19th century. The early Tango is called Tango Criollo. Today there are many forms of Tango Music.




The dance reflects the influences of the European and African culture. In the early years of the 20th century, the triumph of tango music began, with dancers and orchestras coming from Buenos Aires to Europe for guest performances. Tango enthusiasm first spread to Paris, then London and Berlin. Tango music consists of a variety of styles developed in different regions and epochs in Argentina and around the world (e.g. the Finnish Tango). The dance styles are either in open embrace or close embrace. Argentine Tango is performed breast to breast, while many other international Tango styles use the thigh or hip area.
