The United States Army is the largest of the armed forces of the United States of America.
The original nuocleo was the Continental Army, instituted on June 14, 1775, before the declaration of independence, to face the foreseeable war against the forces of the United Kingdom.
In fiscal year 2017 the United States Army consisted of 475,000 soldiers, the Army National Guard (ARNG) 342,000, the United States Army Reserve (USAR) 198,000, divided into 10 divisions and independent units.
