Pedal Steel Guitar

The pedal steel guitar is an electric plucked instrument developed in the United States in the 1930s. It is related to the lap steel guitar (Hawaiian guitar) and is used especially in country music.



The main difference to the lap-steel guitar is the additional pedals and knee levers, which allow to change the pitch of the strings while playing. On the open tuned strings the pitch of the strings is varied with the help of a slide bar in the gripping hand, while the plucking hand pulls the strings, usually with the help of fingertips placed on the fingertips.
