An adventure is an exciting event, usually characterized by a search for the unknown, and often plagued by danger. Adventure is a common theme in classic novels, such as Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, and Baroness Orczy’s The Scarlet Pimpernel. Since film entered the entertainment industry in the early 1900s, adventures have also been portrayed, many based on novels such as the ones mentioned earlier.
